Can anyone identify who this prop maker is in the image in the link below? We are vastly overpropped, and as the prop is off for an engine bed rebuild job, it makes sense to do the lot now....

Prop

Thanks a lot....

I can't identify the maker, but maybe my experience might help.

I have a 20ft Mahogany clinker of approx 1.5tons. A Yanmar YSE12 had been recently fitted, with a 14 x 8 prop of incorrect rotation. Several props later, I can report this would be almost the correct size.

I ran a 15 x 10 last year, and although over propped, was usable, although the engine laboured in forward. I've made a new shaft, cut the prop to approx 14 x 10, and can now travel with the engine approx 3/4 throttle without labouring. Slightly overpropped, but perfect for my requirements on the river.

I'm only assuming your engine is of similar power, given you say you are overpropped at 14 x 11, so from my experience a 14 x 8 should be about right.

I beleive Lancing Marine make props, and given your boat statistics, should be able to tell you the correct size.

Oh! and despite some buying and selling of props etc. I have the correct prop fitted, with a spare, and all for a cost of around £50. Bought and sold for £30ish, so just lost on a little postage. I was quoted £130 plus p & p for a new one.

Some pictures on my site http:www.angelfire.com/malcsworld/

Love the website!

Great website, Malc! You've obviously got too much time on your hands! Didn't find any prop pics, but the video clips are a nice feature. And Barney's friends, of course.

But what on earth were you wearing on the beach???

Looking at the prop calculators for our 3 ton 26' with 16hp Vetus, they show 13x8. As we currently max out at 2600 rpm compared with 3600 max, and fly along at idle, I'd think that's about right. I'm happy with the prop, and would be happy to have another the same...

Thanks for the compliment.....greatly appreciated.

Yes, I've time on my hands, sadly due to a lower back injury stops me working, but now thankfully not from playing for some of the time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Having a boating fund of £0.00 does tend to stimulate and exercise the mind somewhat.

Pitures of my props are here, including the one I lost in the river for most of last summer, when it fell off the box as I was carrying it back to the car.

Re:Julian\'s (shipswoofy) site.

Enjoyed your's as well Julian. Had many a gin reading your rants.....pretty much the same as mine.

Just one question, why do you have drug-dealer dogs (staffys) ??

Don't get me wrong, I love all dogs, just prefer 'proper dogs' <grin>.
