Prop gone white

My untreated 'new' bronze prop has turned white after being on a tidal riverine drying mooring for about a year. I'd guess the water to be on the saline end of brackish.

Any ideas what it is? (Not that I am worried nor going to do anything about it)

My guess is lead in the mix.

Could this simply be lime scale from the river? If so, brush on brick cleaner then rise off and then, hopefully, Bob Sherunkel.

Lead has been known in Bronzes, and nothing seems to want to grow on it, which would suggest not carbonate. As it was otherwise perfectly clean I just left it as is...

Sorry not following your thinking.

Was wondering why you thought a white deposit was due to lead in the alloy.

Not suggesting that anything was growing on it. Thinking that it is a carbonate/limescale deposit just looking for a reason why it has formed.
