I have been looking at props and I was wondering if there is a guide relating to diameter vs pitch.. What I mean by that is my current prop is a 15x17.. Looking at the higher pitch props there is a 14.5x19 and then a 14.25x21..

So as the pitch increases the diameter decreases.. I know it preferable to have larger diameter props so why does the diameter reduce with the increase in pitch?

Does this reduction in diameter reduce the effect of the added pitch? so In other words is a 14.5x19 similar to a 15x17 (or maybe a 15x18 if it existed)??

I guess what I am asking is how much effect does a change in pitch have vs a change in diameter?

Thanks..

swing the biggest you can as more efficient.
rule of thumb to keep the same engine RPM add 1" dia, reduce the pitch by 1" & vicky verky
