Hi All,

Thought I'd share this with you. Following a recommendation by VolvoPaul (who has just serviced my outdrives) to clean my props with 'Brick Cleaner. Here is a before picture.

I thought I'd try coating the props with 'Trilux prop-o-derv'

I'm not sure how this will perform but I'll share my feedback when she's lifted again in 12 months time.

Anyone else had experience with Trilux Prop-o-Derv?

I think he is saying that you are using a photo provider that gives you a few secs to see the pic then removes them from view.
Try uploading your pics to a free Photobucket account (www.photobucket.com) and then wrapping your URL (link) between these two tags [IMG] and [/IMG]
There are plenty of people on here that can help if you can't get it working.

I must admit the brick cleaner looks like it did a good job. As long as it doesn't do any unseen damage to the metal. What is the cost difference from your normal cleaning procedure?normal
 
The various professional marine engineers I know all use brick cleaner on props and trim tabs, the trick is to give it a good wash off when its done its job (and keep it restricted to the job in hand ie not splash it about.)
But you do need to leave it on for a few minutes to do its job.

I only used a stiff brush and elbow grease before brick cleaner is about £8.00 or so.

I've just written some photo posting notes (using Photobucket) for someone on our marina forum.
So, it is easy for me to paste the same notes in here for you.

There is a setting inside Photobucket that will make your posting process very easy to use.
I suggest that you do the following:-
Browse to www.photobucket.com and log in as usual
You should see a "kind of" icon at the top right of the screen (just to the left of "Cart")
If you "hover" your mouse pointer over this icon, you will see some options.
Click the "Profile" option
You should then see your Login Name and under it a button marked "Edit" - Click the Edit Button.
Then you should see a number of "Tabs" - click on the "Albums " tab.
You should then see a number of "Check Boxes" - "check" the one marked "Turn on easy linking mode" and "uncheck" the one marked "Link back to albums"
Then click "Save" at the bottom of the page.
This should set your Photobucket account to "easy linking mode".

Once you have done that, it is easy to create links to your images within your posts.
The best way is to click on the Album in Photobucket that contains an image that you want to post.
Note - a quick way to navigate to your Albums is to click the "Library" button at any time - then click the Album that you want.
You will then see a page or pages (if you have lots of uploaded photos) of thumbnails representing the images that you have uploaded into that Album.
Underneath each image there will be some useful links.
The one that we are interested in is the IMG one (usually the last one).
So, click in the IMG box and it will "highlight" - then either right click and select Copy or press Control C on your keyboard to copy the IMG link to your computer's clipboard.
You can then simply paste the link into a post on the forums.
This inserts a load of "gobblygook" that you don't need to worry about.
Make sure that you dont add any other text into the link (that is - don't change anything between the
tags that you have pasted).
In other words - don't change the "gobblygook".


So, your links above should look like this (note - no URL tag)

Trilux spray is better than nothing, but only just, although the blakes equivalent is even worse. Trilux 33 out of a tin is better, and I think Velox Plus is the best paint-on option. It's widely used in the med but you don't see it much in UK.

I have no experience with Trilux spray but I'll happy share my experience with the forum next time she's lifted

Velox didn't work for me Nick - but, then again, nothing has worked for me.
The plan this year is to polish them to a mirror finish on the basis that the little ?astards will slide off.

EDIT
The Trilux Spray worked well on the thruster props.
 
I have used Trilux numerous times and that's what's on at the moment but I expect it to be gone when lifted in a couple of weeks.

I used Velox on my Targa, but that too was not very good, that said, there is another chap in our marina (Sant Carles) that believes it has worked well - we will see when he is next lifted.....

Bagging the props works but its a pain to do on a FB boat....:ambivalence:

Our lift is booked for the 17th April, John, so maybe we can compare notes.
And if you aren't doing anything at about 10:30, I could do with some help getting her across to the boatyard.
I will be on my own.
No problem usually but with 6 months growth she will be very difficult to handle.
 
We leave for the ferry on the 7th Mike, otherwise I would have been delighted to help. Mind you, having witnessed you do it several times with pin-point accuracy, I know you could do it on your own, there's nearly enough room to get fenders down both sides:cool:..... Lots of friends out there so I'm know you will be just fine....

I reckon CR is heavily fouled, will slide her over on 31st, will take some shots and lets compare. Last cleaned her bottom in June before our run over to Mallorca, in October she was going like a pudding, hope the waters have been cold.....:ambivalence:
