last week i saw the result of a failed project. not sure what to call her but, about 40ft mahogany over oak, twin six cylinder diesels. beautiful lines really sleek and slim. apparently built by naval apprentices for the coronation, history has it the the queen used her to travel the thames.... i digress..

she had a small digger bucket ripping her apart as i pulled into mitchell's boat haven, in sandbanks... even the machine driver had a pained expression.

how can it happen. history lost.... so... take a look at this on

Ebay...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2434400084&category=36797

there must be someone or a group of someones, who could make this yacht great again?

good luck, steve.

Sad but true!

She is a fine looking craft, but unfortunately its all about money or more to the point, the lack of it!

I understand the problem is the same throughout the world. Over the last thirty or so, years I’ve been involved in numerous industrial archaeological restoration projects, here in western Canada. Many people like to view the restored artifacts, but few will get involved in the restoration or its underwriting. Numerous times I’ve seen historical artifacts hauled away to the scrap dealer, by government and private individuals. The worst was several years ago when I witnessed a museum’s directors send several truckloads of “scrap” truck and auto parts to the salvage yard. Some of the parts were one of a kind dating back to 1900.

As individuals or groups we can only save a small percentage of what’s out there. Its sad but true. Perhaps that makes the rescued artifact all the more valuable.

Cheers Colin.
