Looking at replacement furling systems.
Does anyone have any experience of Admiral Furling Systems from Italy?
Also Harken v Furlex?

I thought Profurl was supposed to be pretty bullet proof?

The rigger replaced my old Stearn system (damaged) with one - he specifically mentioned its simplicity & robustness.

Worried now.

Have you talked to the people you bought from / fitted it?

Yes. Have done. I thought they were bullet proof too. Apparently they are not so bullet proof. A Google search shows it is not that uncommon. A member of staff I was talking to earlier had exactly the same thing happen on their previous boat.

Quick update.
I have received a new replacement Profurl unit from the makers.
All is well.
No issues making a warranty claim. All was dealt with very well.
Pretty good they come with a 10 year warranty. The likes of Furlex only come with a 5 year warranty.
So a happy customer.

mine is about 14 years old !!

Ten year warranty eh. Mine's a bit past that at about thirty plus years old and it's still going strong.

I had a Profurl on m y last boat - 15 years and no issues at all.

My current boat has a Furlex which is awkward to use and will be replaced by another Profurl first chance I get..
