Productivity boost this Thursday

In deference to a number of employers and bosses around the world we will be suspending use of these forums for a period of time on Thursday. Seeking to temporarily blip upwards global productivity is our main reason for doing so, but we will also use the occasion to upgrade the forum database and software.

We thank you for your patience and understanding and wish you a particularly productive 21 April.

ps we are also on the look out for a fixed term contract XHTML/CSS developer with a reasonable understanding of PHP and content management systems...please email paul_lomax@ipcmedia.com if interested to learn more.

Oh bolx

That means that some of us will have to do some work!!

I could probably do XHTML/CSS developer with a reasonable understanding of PHP if only I knew what it all meant! Does it mean the applicant needs a double degree in Dutch??

I'm with you. I don't know any of this XHTML/CSS malarkey either, but I've got a black belt in Origami, if that's any help !

Hope it will cure the present snails pace which is causing frequent time-outs.

Good luck with what must be a complicated process.

Okay, it's going to run something like this:

Forums will be unavaiable for a couple of minutes at 1000.

Then they'll be some frantic paddling under the surface at this end while various tests are run over in another world.

Then we'll have to shut everything down for a while, probably early afternoon, while more frantic paddling goes on at this end.

Then we'll turn it all on again after x period of time (hopefully not too long) and attempt to restore all of the posts that you've made between 1000 and the forums going dark.

Or in other words, we'll try to keep disruption to a minimum.

Hopefully you'll see some differences for (y)our pain...
