Pretty chuffed with todays efforts

We have had 1 bit of bad luck after another with our new hobby so it seems to be rewarding when a day goes to plan lol

Finally managed to turn over the engine we couldn't start as the refurbed starter had been re fitted and got it fired up. After having the boat in the family since august we have finally had both engines running :)

Just waiting on 1 out drive to be refitted before the mechanical side is complete.

Also managed to remove the broken toilet, fix a few electrical things, including the Garmin I couldn't get to work. As well as give everything a good scrub.

I had intended on starting to power wash the boat today too but it was snowing up in the highlands... so stuck to indoor jobs.

Its quite rewarding when you actually achieve something :)

Well done with all that. I've had a productive day too, I've done three laundry washes, vacuum cleaned the house, cleaned the bathroom, and ........ah boats ........bugger all because of this damned rain!!!!!! :)

I cleaned the plug with a needle as there looked to be some marks of corrosion in the pins.

After doing that, and refitting the plug to make sure a clean connection right through it fired up first time.

ah, that's the type of repairs I really love!
Sadly not something that happens often :(

cheers

Decided to change all 4 domestic batteries, painted out the central bilge between the engines and then cleaned the teak in the cockpit. (Kept me busy all for most of the day)..............I actually enjoy this part of the season........all the prepping ahead of a new summer on the water............keeps the mind focused!!

Congrats to the op, many of us have "The Season From Hell" where there is one thing after another so welcome to the club lol.
It's a great feeling when you look back at the end of the day and see your achievements, sadly this damned weather has kept us from the boat for over 6 weeks now so haven't done a damned this this winter.

Have a lift booked for early march so will have 4 weeks to polish paint and preen

I know the feeling about not being able to get to the boat, another weekend and flooded river, can't get on boat and list of jobs long as my arm. So done what I can at home: cockpit table sanded and re-varnished, currently drying in the lounge. Dinghy outboard transom plate repainted, currently drying in daughters bedroom (she went on sleepover, due back at 2pm, evidence HAS to be removed). Dining room currently called the "boat store room". SWMBO is a patient woman, but I think I've pushed my luck this w'end. Currently off to B&Q to buy outdoor storage/container :)

maybe a strong waterproof igloo tent and a decent sleeping bag for when swmbo's patience expires wouldn't be a bad idea...
:p

varnish smell really annoys me, I wouldn't dare think of doing any varnishing/drying indoors!

cheers

River flooded, borrowed dingy without oars, but used broom handle to punt across road and grass to walkways. Couldnt waste another day, spent 2nd night on board this year! Removed domestic water pump and pressure reservoir.

To be fair SWMBO is a very calm and forgiving woman. My daughter on the otherhand soon got me to get the house back into shape. Quite scary these 16 year olds when they want to be :D

Lol a man needs a hobby and some space for said hobby.

I'm kind of lucky that all of the boat stuff gets stored at my dads house, I just get all the 'fun' jobs

Talking of fun jobs... any tips for the best way to get all the crud out from under the engines?
its too shallow to pump and I'm not sure how id get an arm under there either

Hi just fill the bilge with water and bilgex cleaner leave for a couple of hours pump water out dry off with old rags, if realy bad repeat again bilge area will look like new with next to no effort.
