Proctor mast gate

Hello,

I think my mast is a Proctor as there is a triangular shaped blank logo badge on the mast and boom. I also believe that it's original kit. I want a track gate which allows the slugs to pass through them. I have tried to jury rig some aluminium plates to the mast but they seem to catch.

My boat is a Virgo Voyages and I want to by a new main sail with full batons. I have also just rigged the boom with two single line reefing lines coming back to the cockpit.

Any advice on how to close the gate to allow me to raise and drop drop the main from the cockpit?

Thank you

Chris

If you can wait until after this weekend I'll remove mine & take appropriate photos etc.

That is if no-one else can provide the info / details before then.

As I'm out on-t-watter for-a-bit..... :D

PM me & don't let me forget.

OGITD,

That's sounds very helpful, those photos will be helpful.

Not sure what PM'ing is but if this is it, it's easy.

Have a good trip.

Chris

Sadjers,

a quick cheap and easy alternative is to drill a hole in the track at the right spot and fit a split pin on a short lanyard.

The end will need to be bent over with a large radius bend and maybe filed blunt, both to avoid damage to sails and crew and to stop the pin dropping out; a lot of boats do this.
