Proctor Boom ends

I'm being a bit hopeful here.

The boom ends on both my main and mizzen need replacing, unfortunately they are Proctor booms and finding parts through normal channels is now impossible. Just wondering if anyone out there might have some ends lying about that the would be willing to pass on with the appropriate compensation?

Diameter of Main: Approx. 360mm
Diameter of Mizzen: Approx. 285mm
(I've tried to attach pics....)

I start my circumnavigation later this year so not safe to leave them as they are!

Also, any suggestions on how to repair would be welcome (although they appear to be die-cast so....).

Pardon my asking but why do they "need replacing"?

If you are worried about the loops where the mainsheet and the topping lift are attached, these can probably be 'filled' by a good welder (depends on the material composition). Even if the mainsheet attachment loop should fail you can still use the two neighbouring loops. Personally, I wouldn't touch them

Oops, brain not in gear. Good spotting, Diameters should be:
Main: Approx. 115mm
Mizzen: Approx. 90mm

To answer PuffTheMagicDragon, you are correct they are almost warn though where the sheet and topping lift attach (maybe not so obvious in the pics). Yes, I have the other loops if the sheet goes, but if the topping lift goes...... In any case I would feel much happier with them repaired/replaced now and not have them go when it is most in-convenient (as things normally do).

The are die-cast, made of cheap material and cannot be 'filled' :-(

I have a Westerly Berwick with a similar problem - the middle loop has worn all the way through! Went through Trafalgar Yacht Services, who stock most things Westerly, but no spares have been available for Proctor for many years. I looked into getting it welded but again not really possible as die-cast and welder a told me it would not work. Nobody was selling one so I ended up rigging a rope bridle around to replace the loops - has been OK for the last season.

If you don't fancy a rope bridle, I think your original post is about right - to see if anyone is breaking a boat and has a boom end for sale. Good luck!

If you don't need the revolving facility then suggest you replace with a stainless fabrication.
