Problems searching the forums

I haven't used the forum much for the past few months just the odd browse. I see that the search page has changed to a google search.
I used to use the "search with site" function from google anyway in the past to search this forum as the old search system was too slow.
The thing now is that it no longer seem to search the full database. If i enter keywords from posts I added last year they no longer show up. Only way I can see get to that post is by the "view users post" option. I cant imagine this is just me finding this problem.

Over the years YBW has created the most amazing wealth of advice, answers, tips, tricks, wrinkles, opinion, experience and good sense. I have valued every interaction (well, most . . ) (some of course being complete bowlocks) that I've had with the forum and the forum-ites and I'm a fairly low power user. The old search facility was pretty crap, slow, couldn't repeat, etc etc but at least it was configured to help the user gain access to this wealth, by date, subject, forum, etc. and see sensible results displayed sensibly.

Now that's all gone in favour of a faster (admittedly) but coarser and much restricted 'engine'. A lot of that great knowledge has been lost 'cos its now so difficult to find.

We are greatly the poorer. IMHO

All the information is still there. Google used to be able to see it but now sees very little. Wondering was database altered and do the search engines need to re index the database. They might eventually get it sorted.
