Problem with Navman 5607 and AIS combination

Has anyone successfully connected an AIS receiver to a Navman 5607 plotter?
I have tried to get this combination to work using an EasyAIS receiver which is the one promoted by Navman. All that I have managed is an occasional AIS report and then the information is suddenly lost or most usually I do not get any info at all. this is when I can see the ships and often quite close to them. I have tried contacting Plastimo/Navimo
but they have not replied, I have had some help from my dealer but he cant be expected to know about possible software problems or incompatability of items from the same source.
Has anyone got any sensible ideas.

I know that they are sometimes helpful but I have sent them two emails the last 3 weeks and there is so far no solution.
