I launched last Monday and spent the weekend cleaning and ensuring everything works...however when I switched on the water pump for the domestic supply there was a strange noise; a quick look showed that the pumpguard casing had shattered (I guess due to it freezing), I changed this but the pump runs continuously and the water surges out of the tap in the galley, but dribbles out of the tap in the heads. I checked the water level in the tank, there do not appear to be any leaks (water or air) in the pipes/connectors etc and I have left it running for 5 mins to try and ensure there is no air in the system..so question is do I assume that the pump is knackered...again maybe due to the cold weather? Replacement Flojet R4305-505 about £150 so don't want to buy one if its not needed - any advice appreciated!

One of the parts that usually break if the system is frozen is the pressure switch at the base of the pressure pump. Is this what you changed? If it was not then the problem could well be there.

It is also worth checking if your Accumulator Tank is up to pressure. You will find a valve at the top of it similar to that of a bicycle tyre, check the pressure. It needs to be pumped up to a pressure of 3psi below that of the switch on pressure of your pressure switch. So if your switch is rated 15psi to 25psi then the Accumulator Tank needs to be 12psi.

As for the problem of water at some taps and not others, this is probably something to do with the pipe work or the taps.

Good luck, George

Thanks George, the only bit I have changed was the pumpguard filter casing which had broken, so yes I will investigate the pressure switch next. Appreciate the advice regarding the accumulator tank as I was not aware how this worked!
