Probably a dumb question, but.......

Is it okay/possible to raise and lower the leg (volvo 290) without the engine running? Currently out of the water and would like to trim the leg to aid access for painting antifoul. Manual doesn't mention one way or the other.

Cheers Mark

You should be able to manually release the leg by unclipping the anti kick locking mechanism, this is at the back of the leg at about the bottom of the transom plate, just pull the bar towards you and the leg will release you can then move the leg at will without having to climb in and out of the boat each time you want the leg moved!!

Well that s the case with my 270!!!

yup we always do it when the engine is stopped as when fully raised the UJ is at a hell of an angle which I do not like, we have never had a problem flattening betteries, but as has been said you can release the reverse lock and lift it by hand anyways.
