Prob. only of interest to Princess owners

But Why ?

Very personal thing of course, but,Why!.All that trouble and expence. Why not just buy a newer more modern boat. All that time spent renovating when you could be out using the thing is a bit lost on me.Boats and houses are just the same,if you need a bit more space or you fancy something a bit more up to date, sell up and move on.Nothing worse ferrinstance than a house with all sorts of ill matching bits tacked on the sides or even worse in the roof and old tired boats with fortunes spent on inappropriate interior tart ups.An old boat is old and should be left in peace.

Re: But Why ?

oldgit, I tend to agree with you. This guy has done a great job but he'll never get back what he's spent on the boat but the next owner will be delighted. Some peeps are inveterate diy'ers though and they get more pleasure from the restoration than from using the machine afterwards. I guess he'll sell the P35 soon and go and blow his money on some other project
It is good to see old boats being brought back to life though but I'm glad its not my money

Re: But Why ?

Yes good point,

He probably did it because he had the time and inclination (and cash). It is like renovating any thing (car/House) etc. I would love to renovate a big old house but everytime it comes to the crunch I buy a new one because it is easier and cheaper in the shorterm.

I have renovated speedboats before and in the end it gives me a project over the winter. Unfortunately I am lucky to get back all the money and get nothing back for time, just enjoyment of reviving a boat. This year I am reviving my own boat (only cosmetic + upgrades) and it will be cost conciously carried out.

Anyway since when have boats been a logical thought process!

Re: But Why ?

Why didn't he take the opportunity to change that aquamarine colour when he replaced the upholstery? My mom used to wear hot pants in that colour and it still scares me.

Re: But Why ?

The previous owner of my boat went well over the top I know my boat isn't as old but that makes it even more of a waste of money.
