It is a good idea to activate the pop up message .. I thought , perhaps wrongly, that was the default setting!
If you are not a frequent forum user the also activate the email notification.
If you are not a regular email user either then there is no hope for you
If you do not want to receive and send PMs you can turn the whole facility off.
