princess teak refurb

Can anyone tell me if princess teak is solid or laminated on to ply ? . In well worn areas the caulk is proud by about 1.5 mm and I am just making a list of rectifications / costs . Boat has been in med ten yrs and the teak and a few other items have had a bit of a pasting . Thanks in advance for any welcome words of wisdom .

These days, solid. but over the years they might have fitted veneer on ply
The way to tell is to look at the grain direction on the athwartships margin boards. If it's correct direction then the strip is solid teak, likely 6mm thick. If the grain runs across the margin plank, the "wrong" way, it is likely plywood with very thin teak veneer

Thanks John , it seems to be just the main traffic area and its had the guts scrubbed out of it , if I can just replace a few planks the rest will sand up nicely .

that will make it likely it is ply but the converse won't prove it isn't.

Some fitted ply, with real margin boards. If there are screws and plugs in the margin boards but none in the rest of the deck then the central section is also probably ply.

You do know that drip feeding photos of knackered hinges is bang out of order, we need proper photos, lots of them and quickly....
