Looking at a 2008 P58, I'd welcome feedback, thoughts and experiences??
Hi. Nick beat me too it! Please do get in touch, I spent a large part of 2014 trying to find the right boat for us. My thinking on budget fluctuated wildly during this time, so I ended up viewing, and seriously considering a wide variety of options over an unusually wide price range... I think this makes my experience a little unusual and maybe interesting. We briefly considered something 'New', but I've always been firmly in the camp which prefers someone else to take the initial big hit! (Im sure there are plenty of threads on this subject). Obviously, personal needs and tastes vary considerably, but for us a one owner 'previously enjoyed' Princess P58 ended up being the boat that we felt was the best fit and did everything we needed, (at 50% of the cost of some options considered!) CLOUD9 is a 2007 model and frankly older than we were expecting to buy. Ive always felt that the sweet-spot for a shrewd purchase is 3-5 years, but we were so impressed with the condition of some of the older boats we saw that we extended the search as long as the spec and the maintenance records were right.
To give you a flavour of our search, we looked in UK and Spain at;
Sunseeker 50, 52, and 53
Fairline squadron 2 x 58 and 55
Pearl 55 and 3 x 60
Beneteaux Swift Trawler 52. I liked the style, SWMBO did not. (I also like the idea of a Fleming 55/58)
Princess P50, 2 x P54's, 2 x P57's 3 x P58's, P62, and a V65 in case I could be converted from Flybridge... I couldn't.
We have now be cruising since the beginning of June. We love the boat and have covered almost 500nm despite the rubbish weather. The layout suits us very well. Particularly like the plentiful and sociable seating in the saloon and the central flybridge helm accessible from both sides. Everything is well screwed together. She has looked after us in some less than ideal conditions and has felt very assured in the poor conditions. At no time so far have we regretted going for the P58. We bought her from PMYS as a stock boat so have benefitted from their support for 3 months to get issues ironed out. There have been no significant problems and for any niggles the Princess after sales service has been impressive.
PM me and I can tell you more.
Hope that helps
Rick
