Need to locate a source of fabric, to replace the rather tatty material on my helm seat.

A sort of bluey pinky dogtooth pattern ! Sorry if a bit too technical.
Or will I be condemned to a life with a helm seat only vaguely matching the rest of the boat ?
A not uncommon problem it would appear.

On the Azi around 2000 to 2007, the lower helm was alcantara, and a different material and shade to the (velour) sofa material. This extended to the seat lower section, and trimming in the cabins. On mine this was a camel colour, not too objectionable. Some had a royal blue, a really contrasting colour to the rest of the upholstery. So it can work.
Actually we changed all our seating and trimming to a pale leather, which to us looks much nicer and more cohesive. Wasn't too cripplingly expensive either.

agree with rafiki,

if you cannot match it (unlikely you will!) go for a contrast!
I redid all the upholstery, but after some discussion I was persuaded to keep the fake croc upholstery on the helm seat (it's small single seat btw)
Works very well.

@petem: surely it's not difficult to understand. He helps customers with Princess boats source replacement OEM stuff when its needed. In the case of my Princess 40 the exact match curtains for the 2 fwd cabins, so if it's possible to find the OP's original helm seat fabric I'm sure he will.

Fair play to Princess if they have such a role and person.

Thanks for all the replies.Would really really like to try and locate the correct matching fabric if at all possible.

email sent.

Yup, they are brilliant. My boat must be worth maybe 10% of their cheapest new build now, but they make every effort to get hold f thirty year old spec stuff for my thirty year old boat.

Brand loyalty is priceless - if I ever could, it would be a new build from Princess for me.

I’d need a better job though..... :)

Sounds an amazing service.

If only Fairline were so responsive!

I would think they should publicise it more - it is to their overall brand benefit if Princesses "look nice" in their later years

Well done Princess. !

Hamish , came back today with the not unexpected news.

However really impressed that Princess has gone to the trouble of doing something with no obvious immediate financial return.
Must admit in the past have been of the opinion that once a boat has started its slide down the food chain, the builders totally lose interest.

Re: Well done Princess. !

Just an update.
On turning over the offending helm seat discovered a little label sewn into the fabric.
Brookside Covers and Curtains. Bristol.
With aid of the interweb have found they are still trading...have contacted them !
fingers crossed,
