Can,t help with the after care Q
Sounds like something simple the Geny issue
Wire pulled
Breaker tripped -accident
Bat conection off -switch in the ER that's been turned off-left the boat etc .
Have you had a nose around in the ER and Inside the -- taken off the covers as if you were servicing it ,not just a regular inspection cover for checks ?
Trouble shooting page = manual ?

My Geny had controls on it and another remote set in the saloon .
When one set is used the other does not work .
Ie if I start it in the ER the saloon controls don,t work .
Engineer may have used the ER controls in a way that the saloon think the ER ones are ON .
So go and have a fiddle sounds like it could be a pair of Off,s if see what I mean .

Most systems in 2000s Italian boats with Kohlers are like that.
If genny shuts off you have to switch off from the engine room and then start from saloon, or else off switch from the panel will not work.
