Princess 98 From Shamrock Quay To Ship for loading.

RR, thanks for the P98 story. Very interesting, and brings back memories for me of being on the ship's deck during a few load/unloads, and watching the proceedings with great interest

Congratulations also on that beautiful Azi46. Looks a minter! I saw the internal pics on EBY's website and it looked great inside. I hope all goes perfectly for the delivery and swap over at Swanwick.

One thought ref your earlier post on tender for the Azimut: you need to be very careful with clearance for the hydraulic ram on the passerelle. You'll be fine if you plan a tiller-steer RIB, but if you want a console type you'll need to figure out the clearance very carefully

Very very nice. I rate the Azimuts highly for their swoopy styling and general Italian flair. When you get more pics to show maybe a rundown on the refit and if it's turned out how you hoped? We all love a bit of 'refit' on here by all accounts:cool:

Thanks for that, actually the pics on the website looked much better than she was. On first viewing, I nearly walked away. James got the team on it and after 3 months and loads of work, she really is a good one now. He promised me she would be beautiful. He's never let me down yet! Apart from the scruffy fenders I suppose, but not the end of the world tho. the undertanding is if its serviceable then it's ok. It is a used boat after all.

I never intended to put a console rib on the deck as I'm not a fan. Planned is an open Cabrio 275, the one with the folding transom, this will remove the prop intruding into the swim platform by the Yamaha 8Hp 2stroke that I've kept back from the Targa.

The chocks thread will be up again soon.

Andy,
I'll put up more when I can thanks.
:encouragement:

Looking good Roger, very exciting to see her in the water. Mine is drying nicely and all interior / exterior cushions off for re-covering. Great write up also you lucky sod.......

Congratulations
And that teak looks "luuuuuvely"
I understand from one of my secret agents that the teak was new.
Anyway in that pic she looks in mint condition

Well done - can't wait for more pics.

Thanks Mike and John,

Yep, All new 8mm solid, it took 2 months and a lot of work by EBY. Much more complicated on an Azimut than a Fairline as they don't have the templates. Expensive!

When I get her back and a little sorted, I'll put up a thread on the work done. She was a 4/10 boat but now 9+/10.

Quite ironic really, Johng39 bought his Snazi 46 from the Hamble, and is now on the East Coast, while RR bought his from Essex, and is moving her to the Solent :)
Unless I have my wires crossed?

All we need to find is a bloke who bought a Snazi 39 in Bristol and bought it to the Solent, then we have a full house :D

Nope, your wires are 'Centronics' parallel! :p

So when are you coming to the south coast?:)

When setting up the loading, involved calculations are made to distribute the weight as high as possible, but still maintaining a safety margin!!

Huh? I thought, :ambivalence: that was crazy basic 'O' level physics says stability comes from a lower centre of gravity.

Wrong, there is a factor known as 'GM' a general turning moment around the 'Metacentric' point. This righting lever has a value which needs to be as small as possible, which means the boat will right itself more slowly for a slower role.

Us sailyboat people know about this. If a boat ever loses its mast (does happen from time to time) then the roll becomes fast and whippy and much more likely to throw people off their feet or over the side - just what you don't need when trying to work on deck to clear the wreckage away and most of your habitual handholds have disappeared.

Pete

I've only got one piccy sent by James at Essex. She's planned to be delivered on Thursday to Swanwick so I was going to wait til I had a bunch of them.

Still here's a preview...
Not quite a P67 tho. :(

nice one RR!

and slightly OT: it seems that you have an AIRMAR passerelle same/similar to the one I bought and planning to fit on mine.
Once you get her, I'd like a few pics on the passerelle installation plz ;)

cheers

Looks fab! Maybe I missed it somewhere else but what did EYB do to bring her up to this condition?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for asking but you haven't missed anything. There are couple of impatient types around here that were bullying me into posting a picture. When I get my hands on her (this weekend, weather dependent) and get her back to base and a little sorted I will post some pictures with some explanations.

You'll be impressed with EBY.:) This was almost a refit.

Roger.

Hi Vas,

No problem, I can take close ups of course but let me know what you'd like to be able to see on the 'New Houston thread'.
which I will be posting in the next few weeks when the boat is back at base.
