Princess 95 on fire

I think he's there to drop the anchor when they've managed to get the boat away from everything else.

Still seems a daft place to stand, although at least he can jump off of it gets too hot!!

Just before 60 seconds on the video, and at exactly the point captured in the screen grab above, there is a jet of a white/grey substance. Any idea what it is? It is like something pressurised finally give way but it is obviously not any form of flammable gas or fuel, as I would expect to see a ball of flame with it.

My initial thought was it must be some kind of fire extinguisher, but it seems too large a plume...

One does wonders how something so new catches fire

this is the second fairly new P that got in fire in 6 months that I'm aware of,

this P82 on my quay in Porte Montenegro had got fire in the engine room,
they say that a bad led light ficture caused the fire.
boat was just over one year old.
the owner wanted to refuse this boat, and get a completely new
P got a agreement with the owner to give the boat a full factory repair and inspection,
and a hardtop FOC !

There are rumours that with all the migrant and other activity in Turkey at the moment that Turkey is no longer a safe place to keep such signs of obvious wealth as a big motorboat. Don't know how true that is

That bloke on the bow deserves a drink from someone. I couldn't decide if it was the fenders I was seeing or his bollox. The boy has quite a pair !!

Everyone seemed remarkably calm and got on with the job.

That's a real shame its a lovely boat, I know every inch of the 95 having been technical chief on one for two years.
The plume could be a fire extinguisher in the flybridge bar going off, there are two huge cylinders down in the engine room but can't see how these would vent off through the saloon to the flybridge. There is also a plume from the forward port side window near the helm which could be an extinguisher in the galley, or a plastic water pipe has melted and the accumulator is emptying as the galley sink is right under that window. I wonder what caused the blaze and I am sure the technical guys at Princess will wondering too. I have several fond memories of trips between Stavanger and Bergen.

The usual jealous comments are on the Daily Mail site. It's way beyond most people's pockets, especially mine, but that doesn't mean you should rejoice at such a tragic event. Pitiful.

It is very sad news when any boat fire happens, never mind if the boats are big or small, classic or modern, ashore or afloat.

There was also a big fire in Simpson Bay, St Maarten a few days ago :

Here is an excerpt from the article :
"According to the news source, individual Marc Belege was trying to remove the leaking fuel tank from his boat. The fire sparked after he finished cutting the deck to remove the tank and was transferring the fuel to another container.
The fire reportedly caught on Belege’s legs; he immediately jumped into the water before a boat picked him up. He told the Daily Herald he tried to get on board again to put the fire out, but in a second it had spread to the other boats".
