Are you talking about a flashy new one or a older one? If you are talking about a flashy new one then they look fab and should be pretty good, cos' they are made by Princess! If you are talking about an older one then buy a,,ahem,, a Fairline Phantom because they have the edge in terms luxury and engine access. Either boat should have TAMD 63P's or great big scary caterpillars, if it has teeny weeny Volvos (not 63P's) then don't touch it cos' they will break and burn loads of fuel compared to the bulletproof, slow revving 63P's.
Hello and welcome to forum. As Moose said which version.First version built from 1981 to about 1985 based on Princess 37 hull with revised topsides.Any older craft need viewing on condition rather than for specific faults, but as a rule the bigger the engine the more likely to survive any previous owners lack of attention without wearing out.Several owners of older Princess craft on this forum.Cannot comment on newer swoopy window model but the older craft I looked at appeared to be robustly built and well found craft ,if a bit frayed round the edges at times.
There are several newer Princess 38's in our marina. They look good, even by today's standards and were a good seller right up to their withdrawal last year to make way for the 42.

Thanks guys the princess in question we are looking at is a 1985 fly with tamd60 engines 250hp. broker says she will do 25 kts top and 18 kts cruising.
any more info would be helpfull and what price should i expect to pay for her.
Hi Just sold my 385, great boat with 306's cruise at 21 top ou a 30 lite?
I would go or the biggest engines you can get , at 18kts its struggling an with all cruising gear 16kts which will chew fuel.
its one of the best planning sea boats, very soft as deep V goes all the way aft.
She does sit nose up and only at 25kts plus does the tabs work to pull nose down.
