Princess 35 Sedan ?

That boat did appear on my radar. Although apparently well priced by UK averages by the time you add a flight or two to look at it and add transport costs (6-7K) to get it back to civilisation you could probably get a boat over here for less money.
However the plus with other power units is they tend to be 6 litre lumps, hence much less stressed than the rather weedy 3.6L VOLVO block.
One other thing from the photos the boat appears to be devoid of any nav gear and radar ?
Add in a decent plotter/radar/radio etc it will bump up considerably your buying cost, even if secondhand.

Got back very late last night after a VERY long and stressful day in France. How people put up with the traffic on the cote d'azur is beyond me , over 3 hours to get from Port Grimaud to Nice airport ,about 100km , in fairness there was a accident on the motorway but it caused such chaos , we only just made our flight.
That boat has seen better days , the best part was the engines , they were nice slow revving units that seem to suit the boat and were well looked after , the owner took us for a spin around the Golfe de St.Tropez which was the best part of the day.
The boat was just so full of stuff , every locker was jammed , no idea when it was last cleaned . Some people have no clue how to prepare a boat for sale and the owner seemed to think it was just perfect the way it was .
I have one other one to look at , taking a short break in Spain and have arranged to see one over there , only problem is it's a private sale but it looks promising.
The things you do to get a boat. Spending money shouldn't be this hard.

Fair enough, you really do need a transom gate version. Would taking the flybridge off a later version would be less work than incorporating a transom door into an early sedan version like the one in Lough Key? I would imagine so, you would need somebody good will GRP / Gel work either way.

If you were open to boats other than a p35, maybe a bit more river biased, would something like this suit https://www.apolloduck.com/image.phtml?id=467981&image=2. Bit of a oddity with the single engine but 1999 vintage and seems to be nicely fitted out with two sleeping cabins.

Bounty 34 sedan, again two separate cabins: https://uk.youboat.com/buy/power-boats/bounty/sovereign-34/97827

If you are set on the p35 then tell me to bog off.

I have seen some early ones with gates put in and some are done very well but i would prefer an original one . Having said that it would come down to the condition of the boat , the is no point getting a bad late one just for the gate .
I did see that Rosebank ,it has been for sale for a while , but i'd perfer to stick with a better know model. As for the Bounty , she is nice but seems to be gone from the TBS website .
I'm not completely set on the P35 , i do like the beneteau 1080 as well but SWMBO is not gone on the layout.
On the shannon i do feel it is nice to have something more seaworthy than just a river boat as we have crossed the lakes in some quiet rough conditions.

Its always hard work sorting a couple of ears of wheat from several acres of fibreglass chaff.
Multiple viewings of overpriced worn out neglected heaps does however help concentrate the mind to appreciate the right boat when it does present itself on the pontoon.
Have always thought that you probably will look at a dozen plus boats in your price bracket before finding perhaps two decent ones.
If your luck is in, the owner may be able/prepared/willing to accept your very reasonable offer on one of them..

I agree with that sentiment, I've had green water over the bow of a Broom 37 on Lough Ree. Been out in worse in coastal waters but that one scared me more as it was unexpected.
