Right, we are still looking at upgrading from out current sealine 285 and one of the boats that has caught my eye is a Princess 315 WITH 200 hp diesels on outdrives.. Anyone got an opinion? It has to be a outdrive boat as our mooring dries out, size wise the 315 is about the max we can have.

Been to look at a couple of these, they are quite rare. There has been a version of this boat on the brokers lists for ages, has couple of V drives which is even rarer.
Nice modern boat with decent wheelhouse but kitchen and bit small? Has been suggested elsewhere that boat is bit small for flybridge.Seem to be priced aroung 50K on average.Boat we looked at locally was virtually unused in immaculate conditon, was up for sale at Allington. Not sure where it went when sold. How about the older 30DS as alternative as more around.

Got one which we are going to sell soon, however no good to you as it is on shafts.

We have had ours for 4/5 years and it has been a great boat. Very seaworthy and with such a heavy build it is great in the rough stuff. Good accomodation for a boat this size - I think the LOA is about 35ft, 5 comfortable berths.

PM me if you want any specific info.

We have looked at a couple of 30Ds' to and like th elook of them from the outside but they are very dated inside so not so keen, but would be possible to bring it up to date I guess. I know there is a 315 avaliable in france for sensible money but not spotted any in the UK recently but will keep looking.

We would consider a Corniche but yould have to be the 200HP diesels again with out drives and there are not too many of them about for sensible money either.

Has anyone been to sea in /owned a 315??

I hate outdrives !

I am on shafts and my moorings dry out but it is very soft mud ! ( not many bricks I picked most of them out myself but thats another story )

I used to have outdrives and I found hard to service, My shafts are quite strong and will take most knocks, I also like the way the boat handles at slow speeds !

trust me I have had my moments of hate towards out drives too but I do not have much choice in the matter, the mud on our mooring is not deep enough so we have to live with it. Having said that I kinda like the way the handle and we have never had a problem we could not fix....oops should I have said that!

Re: 30DS flybridge

[ QUOTE ]
Caution regarding the 30DS outdrive flybridge version - very wobbly in a following/quartering sea, big roll and not very comfortable up top.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeh I think if we went for the 30DS it would be with out the flybridge, prefer the look of them with out it and the flybridge ones always seem way over priced to me.

315 Details

Being a bit of a hoarder have kept brokers details on most boats have been to see.
On one of the sheets it states max 20 knots, but with 2 x 200hp that seems bit stingy.the much bigger heavier P35 will do 25 knots.Looking at interior shots it seems much more modern and better quality fit out than on 30DS.According to princess website boats were built between 1989 and 1993 and is 32 ft OA.

Re: 315 Details

thanks for that, I know what you mean about the performance stats, most specs seem to state 30 but that seems a little over optomistic, I would be happy with a max of about 25, we tent to cruise around 18 - 20 in our current boat and like that speed.

How recent ar the details you have, are any of them likely still to be on offer??

Re: 315 Details

We were looking last year and both boats we looked at were sold.Still keeping an eye out tho as was best modern 30 footer at sensible price we found.Only one recently have seen on net is one in France with the Z or V drives. We are just round corner from Mainship and berth is gloopy mud so although have outdrives at moment will being going for shafts next time.
