Hi All
Anyone familiar with this model of boat, accomodation handling etc?? one has come up for sale locally, only drawback I can see, at the moment is it is LPG not Diesel, So how would that reflect a reasonable asking price ??

your thought please

Rgds

For me it just has to be diesel. Depends where it is and intended use. But diesel is universal boat fuel. Other is suspect!!!

A good mate of mine (who may also be MikeT's lover) has had one for years and been everywhere in it. He really has over the years done some pretty serious cruising in it. His has Volvo diesels and is the FlyBridge model. It is as far as I am aware a pussycat to handle and not a bad sea boat.

A mate of mine bought a 30DS with petrols and had it converted to diesels
(Big green 150 hp Vilevos, TMD40s? is that a volvo code? summat like that
anyway, he is just converting to run 290 legs - with the 280s is cruises at about
20-23 knots) and is quids in! if you want to know anything about it PM and i will ask him your questions

Ooo Byron you are a darling!!

You must mean our mate John?
You are right. Seems a good boat to me.
John is also part way through converting his VP 150hp diesels to 200hp. Already goes pretty well, and should fly with this upgrade.

I would not touch LPG or petrol engined versions unless seriously cheap. My opinion.
There is a big question mark over the ongoing supply of LPG. It is also not widely available anyway.

There has been an LPG one for sale literally for years but don't know if it is the same one.

I have the original brochure etc if its ever any help to you

Cant understand how all the petrol heads still reckon petrol is best???????

even if Diesel goes up in price us dieselers will still go further for our money!!!!!!

According to the boatie rags there is some doubt about the continuing availability of LPG in less popular areas and since it looks like Grabber Gordon is reassessing the tax breaks for road fuel LPG, that might affect marine LPG prices as well. Also there have been tales of LPG fed engines experiencing premature failures so best to get a full engine survey done

I cant see that a LPG converted 30DS is worth any more than a petrol only powered one and I would have thought you ought to be thinking about a diesel conversion anyway and that should be factored into any offer

Went to look at a load of of these all over the south in my last upgrade.
Most petrol jobbies were located in upper Thames area, which is exactly where they belong. As may just be possible to run one at 5 Knots and still afford to eat.
A couple of 145hps will eat 20 gph(20 x 4 quid 80 quid and hour) or more I reckon at estuary speeds. The number of twin petrol princesss, DS & P33s for sale in most of the marinas will give you an indication that they cannot give the things away.Ps the version with the twin 80 diesels on shafts is no firecracker either.Ended up with my present boat (P33) simply because unable to find DS with diesels.
Total waste of time trying to explain that 12K needs to come off price of boat to allow oil burners to be fitted, cos present owners got stitched up/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif,they expect you to bail them out.Toatally my guess but max 20K offered for any early eighties petrol money pit.
Ooo,must not forget the one for sale that had twin V8s...................at PH I think.

I often wonder what happened to the Princess 35 with twin V8 petrol sterndrives that was for sale for ages on the upper Thames?

Me again, Julian

Just a thought, have you considered "Prime Time"...Sealine 305 Statesman also for sale at Swansea. Similar size boat much the same sort of thing, similar price, but I think She's twin Volvo Diesel...wants a good scrub up and new canopies but apart from that looks OK..dunno if its been sold yet.

I know the Princess now.

Steve.

Re: Princess 30 DS with 2 x monster V8 petrols

Was up for sale when I was trawling around but cannot remember which yard.Boat was absolutley immaculate with low low hours and about (cough..choke) 40K ? was the very "reasonable"(ironic use of word)asking price.

Re: Princess 30 DS with 2 x monster V8 petrols

Fred I remember seeing a P35 as opposed to P30 with V8s advertised for ages at around £67k at Bray I think.

Just intrigued to find out whether this type of boat does eventually get re-engined in due course?
