I want to find the best way of providing a decent double bunk in the saloon of my Princess 30 DS. Having read in Jan 2005 Motor Boat Monthly that some boats had the starboard bunk converted to a double I now want to find out how this was done and probably copy the same. Has anyone out there already got this conversion. Would be great to have details and pictures if possible. Look forward to replies with any ideas.

The only 30DS' I have any experience of are from the hire fleet on the Caledonian Canal, some of them had doubles in the wheel house and were made up by pulling out the right hand bench seat which seemed to extend back under the side deck. You then filled the gap with the back rest cushions and hey presto a double bunk. It looked like a fairly simple afair and was quite effective.

I still fancy a 30DS as my next boat, I think they were one of the nicest looking boats of their time and with the summer just gone I realy like the idea of a nice warm helm position and no canopies!

Have a friend who made a double bunk (from a single) on a Laguna 11.5M, not so long ago... Sort of a pull out 1/2 swivel... made a double up at the head end and 1 1/2 at the feet end .... will see if i can find the pics he sent me. Not sure if it would work in yours though, but you may get some ideas from this...
