I've just bought a princess 25 to refurbish over the winter. Not a pretty sight but basically sound and serviceable. Will post some pics before and after. If i discover how to!

First question for the learned forum. What would you expect the cost to have the interior re-trimmed. Thats new foam, all new cushion covers, backrests etc and the headlining and cabin sides replaced/relined, and the aft bench seats and backrests in the cockpit. I will disclose the quotes when your thoughts are known.

I had a figure in mind and have had two quotes that are more. Wondered if my expectations are two high!! All comments welcome.

Boat is in Preston marina but will be moving her to Conwy as its on my doorstep to work on.

Any recommendations for engine/outdrive engineers greatly received for Preston or Conwy.

Gary.

Welcome and good look. The Princess 25s are good solid boats, and with some TLC it may be a cracker! As for the Interior quotes, if using a marine supplier it will be about double that of a Caravan supplier. I would guess refurb at £2850 from a marine place, £1800 from a Caravan place and probably £1200 if you take all the cusions out yourself and down to a sofa refurb company.

Any upholstery on a board is very easy to replace. So do it yourself and save a fortune. All you need is a staple gun and some stainless steel staples!
By the way is the Princess we had the engine discussion about recently?

Spot on Nautorius. £1700. Had a quote from both a Marine trimmer and a caravan trimmer, both about the same but big difference between material and labour costs.

Caravan trimmer much more expensive on materials but half the price on labour?

Breakdown is around £700 for trimmimg the sides of the cabin and headlining, labour and materials which is some form of carpet. (waiting for samples) £1000 for cushions.

Caravan trimmers are quoting £500.00 just for the foam which I was surprised at. Labour from both is £25.00 per hour !8 hours to re-trim the cabin from both. Ive stripped out the cabin so its ready for re-fit.

Hi PCUK. No, I don't think we have discussed the engine! I did exchange some PM,s with Rob, rr-123 from the froum who owns the same boat type. Very helpful.

Its a Volvo 130D with a 280 Leg. Been standing for 6 years but from initial engineer inspection it seems serviceable with a good service and some tinkering. Anything you want to share about the engine greatfully received.

I did consider doing the trimming myself but don't think I have the skills to achieve a really good finish.

Re Trimming MOBO'S Is there a Big Demand

I would appreciate any feedback on whether there is a big demand from the MOBO community for re trimming of seats, back rests panels etc.

Need to declare an interest as we have recently purchased a Passenger Seat Manufacturing business that also trims panels for minibus conversions, being ever watchful for opportunities for growth!

thanks rob
