Adding a boot top with Trilux 33 tomorrow in fresh smooth gelcoat. Is it really necessary to prime with Primicon or will light sand be adequate?

I lightly abraded the gelcoat, then primed with Primocon, before antifouling with Micron Extra when I raised the waterline a few years ago.....so, I would suggest abrading and priming before applying Trilux for your boot top.
