Price of spares...

Does this beat the lot? The fuel cap of my 2hp Tohatsu has started leaking, same design as the Mariner/Mercury etc etc. Went to the local dealer, price for new seals, two bits of rubber ---- £35 QUID! Needless to say I will be posting in the Wanted section!

Could you make them from some innertube or have they got a moulding on them.

mine did the same on the vent screw, i was told it was because the vent screw was being undone to much.
new instrutions was to undo one or two turns at the most.
i made new ones from inner tube from lorry.

similar thing with an older tohatso, new points from swindlery 30 euro, same thing from local motorbike shop 5 euro.

no we are not being ripped off, the qualiy is better from the swindlery, even though the packaging is the same.

Two seals. One is flat, no problem. The other is a cone shaped moulding. If all else fails I shall make up a washer for transport and run it with a rag stuffed in the top.
