A related question to the one below. I've yet to get a reply from Tek Tanks despite some badgering on the phone today, but for a simple 4 sided wedge shaped tank holding about 90 litres, how much should I budget for? All I need is a simple in/out, vent, hatch and sender unit. Anyone done something similar, and if so, how much?

I fitted flexible tanks from Duratank, Very helpful.

Good points

Duratank are excelent to deal with and good price
Flexible tanks reduce condensation as they colapse with the fuel level
Less foaming when filling (fill fast)
Less likley to grow the diesel bug, harder for it to live if you are donated some by the fuel barge
Fitting is easy as is future replacment

Bad points

hard to fit a gauge. I simply rested the float type on the outside, works OK.

Cant really add an extra outlet later on, but if it might be needed have a spare blanked off one put in at manufacturer time (I learnt this the hard way)

Oh yes you mention they have to hang, sorry. Duratank do palastic as well I think.

My flexibles sit on neopreen liners in a bunded bay in case one splits. But then they hold over 50 gallons each, so you cant risk that lot gettng out (As it did from the original steel ones /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

Try a guy called Derek at Alumacraft in Walsall. 01543-378866. I had an oval tank made up last year to replace an ST tank and this year he has converted it for diesel. I had it made in aluminium which seems as good as and cheaper than stainless.
They did a good job and at a surprisingly good price compared to quotes from the South Coast - but that's probably what you would expect.

My tank, 1000lits, shaped like a skip, 10ft x 2ft x 2ft6in deep,............

£4000 from Tektanks, excluding fittings!

Stainless can have problems being a touch brittle, for mymoney I would have mild steel, shotblasted, zinc sprayed and spray painted.

Consider using SS beer kegs. The ones I have are 2.5 mm thick, pressure tested, have BSP threaded fittings. Mine are 20 litres and cost $20. Obviously the styles will vary with your location.

Try these guys for a quick quote.
