Got my boat early Xmas presents on Saturday - Dehumidifier (£79+) and Oil filled radiator (£19+) - and they are doing the job marvelously - thanks to all on here for the tip off! Incidentally, Dehumidifier at £79 (B&Q) was the cheapest I found by a mile (normally £140+).

I second that. Dehumidifier from B&Q works very well and is certainly the cheapest I could find. Removed a litre of water overnight on the first night of use. Boat now drier with less much less condensation. A godsent when being used as a liveaboard during the week.

Does the forum consider the use of Dehumidifiers and oil filled radiators neccassary if you are visiting boat once a week. I would think as long as you are onboard regularly that it is not.

Can't see that visiting once a week would stop my block cracking if it froze?

Tray in the dehumidifier was 2/3 full after one night! One of the Dockmasters has emptied every day since Sun so..I guess that answers your question

Does your dehumithingy not have a drain pipe to allow water to empty down a sink ?

Worth seeing if there is a bung on the back

I struggled to get hose for mine but tracked an appropriate one down at a fish tank shop.

Is it a 13mm pipe attachment? Mine was from B&Q and was but it may be a different model. I just connected a spare piece of normal 12/13mm pipe I used when plumbing the fresh water taps. It's a bit stiff cos the pipe is thick and reinforced but held on with a jubilee clip it works fine.

Thinking about it maybe fish tank type pipe may be more pliable and less likely to fall off.
