Why do they always seem to have made a botch job of things.....Anyone got any tales to tell? Mine had a habit of using mild steel screws, jubilee clips etc..

Electrical faults...
...will go away if you wrap enough insulating tape around them.

A quick guide to yacht maintenance.
If moves and it shouldn't ..... duck tape.
If it doesn't move and it should ..... WD40.
Problem solved.

Oh my Oh my.....could take over this thread entirely with our new boat....but for tasters how about electrical connections made with blue tack?...or fuel tank held in place with car jack? or my favourite...copper gas pipe creased and bent through two 90 degree corners (& then fed through a locker completely unclipped)....and then....no its no good I could just go on, and on, and on........instead I'll just take another sip of wine and look at the photo my hubby's left me so that i can recognise him when he returns from fixing the boat!

I have to admit to guilty to opposite sentiment. My boats previous owner/builder made a pretty excellent job of just about everything.
Whenever I repair or attempt to improve anything, I am left feeling that he would perhaps have made a better job of it than me or done it differently.
We have had to boat for 3 years and I still think of it as his boat!
