I am hoping to sell my boat in the New Year but do not have a previous bill of sale.

I have a receipt for the purchase price and confirmation in writing where the boat was moored when we left the EU but other than that very little previous paperwork.

Could this present a problem for me?
The boat will be for sale for a modest price 10 K so we’re not talking about a hugely expensive item.

Nothing really to worry about if the boat has been in the UK. Being here when we left the EU is only of relevance if you want to sell in the EU as the buyer will have to pay VAT to import into the EU. As to your title to sell you have evidence that you bought it, just not in the usual form. However there is no formal requirement to use the BofS. At your price level doubt any buyer would be worried.

Thanks Tranona. Reassuring to hear that. I will present any prospective buying with the available paperwork and facts in writing if necessary and be completely open and honest and they can decide for themselves.
