prestuds

Yes, they can tend to stick tight, especially when exposed to the elements. A little light machine oil will help them to operate freely or a spot of WD40 or similar.

What you should do
Is get a boat without a 'Tent'
That is the way forward
At least you have listened to Me over the years
I mean 'outdrives'
The Curse of the boating World
But 'Some' do persevere with the Devils
Can you hear me Bruce!
:D:D:D

The stiffness problem is caused by seawater spray drying out on the snap ring of the female part of fitting.reducing the diameter of the snap ring.
Cure is to apply Vaseline with a cotton bud internally 100% cure

Hark! A lone voice in the wilderness. :p

You can get the silicone oil in various grades and very cheaply, a small brush would coat both halves and you can do them annually.

Model cars retailers sell it online for shock absorbers.

Get a can of dry lube spray ... don't spray it all over the place just a tiny close-up squirt will last for ages or squirt some in the lid and put it on the studs with your finger. Particularly useful for zips rather than actual zip stuff which lasts till next week! Dry lube on zips, and press studs, lasts a long time .... :encouragement:

OMG have i got the right website or did I click on something else, stiffness, female part, Vaseline. STOP it immediately. This is a family show. :o:o Sorry couldn't resist.

Your boat is looking grubby. Just saying. You're missed. No more coffee stops on my way to raid Roy's funbox.

Hoping to be there end of this week Bruce I'll sew your zip then, if you haven't got it done already:encouragement:

Thanks John. Let me know when you're down and if I havent got stuck under an engine I will pop over. I managed to get trim ram pins out easily enough but contrary to all expectations putting new ones back in meant dissembling the engines. My engine room looks like a plucked chicken!

No, they were pretty rotten. Might have got a few more years life out of them but on the balance it wasn't worth it. My starboard rams though were replaced maybe 5 odd years ago. If the seals go definitely a seals only replacement.
