so I have tried to pull the prestood the bit fixed on the boat ,the ones with a self tapper through the middle ,how do you refix it back as if you go a self tapper bigger its to big for the stud ,any help many thanks ,SS

Soak some fibreglass cloth or if you are broke even a bit of sponge with epoxy and force it into hole so it forms a plug behind.
Pre-drill and re.use the old sized screw.
Helps if you already have a junior kit of west systems for example.

I have successfully used a very small amount of gelcoat filler on the screw and some in the hole - push the screw and the stud fitting into place . Waiting until the gelcoat starts to go off makes it thicker may help to partly fill the hole
Not perfect but it worked for me .
Probably best done in warm weather or introduce some warmth.

I remove existing screw, fill hole with gel coat repair , re drill , countersink ,then re install screw

Might depend on the strain on that point..I ve always found gelcoat filler to be rather brittle.
But same concept!

I just rolled a slightly larger self tapper head on the belt sander back home and drilled a larger hole in the stud to accept it. Worked fine
