Im (temporarily) working for a few months in the Preston area, and was considering a living on my boat during this time. Can anybody comment on mooorings in the area? I'd prefer non marina.

thanks

preston is some miles up the very tidal river ribble. the only place to keep a keelboat is in the marina which is in the old commercial dock. we stayed there on our trip round britain and found it one of the best stops. good facilities and very reasonable prices.

hesketh bank (douglas boatyard), very oldeworld type boatyard, where are you coming from and will you have a car with you ??????

no bio so cannot comment in more detail, but if you have no car then i would stay in preston as there is everything to hand , within minimal walking or bus ride...
depends also on where you will be working...
glasson docks, fleetwood

It may be worth a look at Freckleton creek, this leads into the Ribble. Its a bit nearer to Lytham. Freckleton boatyard 01772 632439.
