I was looking at an old MBM with an test on the Prestige 46, and it occured to me that it had a very sociable saloon/galley/helm/dining set up, and with three cabins.
Altogether it looked good value for money. Hull was only medium V 18 degrees,
so probably not so sea friendly as some brit makes but it looked a good package.

But does it have the Prestige/forums/images/icons/smile.gif of the more well known brit makes.

I looked quite closely at the 46 at the Southampton show and I thought quite the opposite in that the saloon felt tight for a 46 footer and then I could'nt get my head around paying £350k or whatever for a boat from a manufacturer that churns out plastic sailboats at £30k a shot. I mean can the build quality be that different?
IMHO, for a 3 cabin boat, I thought the Cranchi 48 was a lot better for the same money or for real value for money the 3 cabin Rodman 41 looked a bit of a bargain at £100k less and MBY have given it the thumbs up

Motor and sail are built at different factories and the 46 is built in a yard on its own with its own dedicated team. The process is totally different to the £30k saily boats I know I have visited the facory(s)

I like the rodman 41 but over the last 2 1/2 years it has gone up from about 220,000 to about 280,000 which to my mind, although still good value, is getting expensive considering where it was positioned in the marketplace.

The reason for that is the increasing strength of the Euro which has appreciated about 20% against Sterling from its lowest point. I think the only real competitor for the R41 in the same size range is the Sealine F42/5 and I think that it is listed at close to £300k. Despite the gizmos on the F42/5 (extending cockpit, swivelling helm seat), I think the R41 feels a more solid boat. My only criticism would be the ridiculously low backrest on the flybridge seating
There is the Beneteau 13.80 and the Azimut 42 which also offer 3 cabins but again I think you're talking £300k plus

If i was in the market for a flybridge it would definitly be on my list, I too thought it was put together well and liked the fact that it has come from the same stable and background as solid, proven workboats.

Thinking about it the seating on the flybridge was fairly low, the layout inside great.

I may well be wrong but its semi discplacement isnt it?
