I started this project on our Prestige 32 late last year, but then a trip to the USA at Christmas and then being ill, meant that I have taken over two months to get this far. I squeezed in a new Raymarine es97 chart plotter on the flybridge, by moving things around. The original Raymarine chart plotter at the lower helm had to go. I commissioned a cabinet maker to produce a couple of wooden panels and some careful use of a hole cutter and a jigsaw in both the wood and the GRP, saw it all finally finished yesterday. I used the second panel on the port side to balance the effect. When the weather improves I will fit the new Quantum radar.

Looks good in a high gloss panel rather than some that I have seen in a white perspex panel

Pleased with both panels to balance up the look. I installed a Raymarine backbone network to ensure that everything communicated properly. I have never done anything like this before!

Very impressive, looks factory. Personally I find overhead electronics give me neck ache, but can't fault the installation

Nice job, but in the photo of the righthand lower panel, it looks like there are two screw holes to the left of the panel, or maybe my eyes are deceiving me? If they are holes, are these going to be filled?

Very nice .
The modern kit is s o much more compact . Make s the older stuff look antiquated.
Have you connected the two mfds together with a waterproof ethernet cable (Raymarine call it an Raynet cable and charge an arm and a leg for it ) ? If not I think you will find the they do not communicate a s master and slave.

I see your Raymarine 230 handset curly cord has been better days . I used to have one and it was going the same way.
I don't know if the 6 core curly cord on the following link would replace the original but it might be worth investigating .

Here's the Raymarine e7 in my Sealine F33 flybridge dashboard installed in 2015 . The engine warning lights and speed/depth were relocated . The e7 looks like it was made to fit the space. This would not have been achievable with the previous designs of chart plotters .

Yes I agree that overhead electronics make your neck ache and arms too! But there is no other space in front of the helm :(

The two screw holes will be filled and is another little job to add to the never ending list!

The two mfds are indeed connected with a Raynet cable, with the lower helm being the master. I have been searching for a new curly cable and I will have a look at your link, but I think that the Raymarine cable is unique.

That e7 plotter looks like a factory fit, well done!

Here is my version of adding extra screens, they were fitted by the dealer with my blessing and are both mounted on top of the dashboard. Upstairs it's the same, only I have one extra screen not two.
Despite the photo (going by the angle it looks like I took the photo with my belly button) they don't obstruct the view out the window and only the right hand one needs a bit of a stretch to reach it. It may not be for purists but it suits me fine.
I know by experience that the photo will come out sideways, apologizes.

What with the family coming over from the USA, the overdue decoration of the study and being a bit poorly, I finally managed to fit the new Raymarine Quantum radar. It fitted the original mounting points perfectly and works a treat. It was easy to pull through the new data cable and only took around an hour and a half from start to finish.

All that is left to do now is to try and replace the deteriorated curly cable on the Raymarine 230 VHF, which is obsolete...........

A little project completed today on our Prestige 32. The old brass clock didn't work and the barometer looked so antiquated next to the new Raymarine chart plotter, so they had to go. I sourced a battery operated weather station from Amazon, which also has an outdoor sensor. So now we have temperature and humidity both inside and outside. Clock, day, date, air pressure, a couple of alarms and weather forecasting. It does have a 240v to 5v power adapter, but that would only be any good while connected to shore power. Any vibration, or clapping of hands wakes the unit up from sleep. Yet to find out how long the batteries will last.

Not the best photos, but they looked okay on my phone!
