And select Radio 2 Folk Awards.
What a fantastic show with the good and the great .... and some really genuinely nice people. :)

Also to keep it on a Nautical theme, and in support of the many musical / guitar threads we’ve had recently ….. why don’t we have regional acoustic / unplugged sessions / musters?

My initial thoughts would be a fifteen minute set from each, solo or as a small group, even a single well played song / piece would be great.

So! ….. why not!?

Well! .... Blow Me Down Shipmates

Some on here would never pass a Microsoft Test.

As it’s not a comprehension test …… or maybe it is …… but it wasn’t meant to be….. sorry Lads ….. simples it is then. ;) :D

What I was trying to say (and obviously failing) was, it would be a good idea if we had regional (not everyone can get to all areas all of the time) themed (hopefully musical acoustic) musters / socials / events. :)

1, As music has always been part of Maritime History. ;)
2, There has been as considerable number of music and guitar threads etc. :)
3, It would make it much more than just having a few beers as this can be done anytime. ;) :D

Edit .... also if you press the red button on your Sky remote, and select Radio Two Folk Awards you’ll hear some good music from some really great people.

By-ek you lot!

You / I / we / us do make it difficult at times ….. or is that just moi?

It appears that the Sailing / Boating world and acoustic music in the 21st just doesn’t coalesce....... (don't tell the Pardeys this.)

So we’ll just have to consign it to historical records only ….. sad…… V-sad.

You don’t have to play anything or even sing if you don’t feel up to it, just support by being there and enjoying the event / atmosphere. :)

OK then ….. you win .... just plug-in the iPod. :(

Edit ...... I think I just miss the Sods Operas and Music Nights.

No, not *that* Red Button!

I did like it a couple of years ago when the BBC News24 presenter said - with a straight face - "For more information on South Korea's nuclear test, viewers on digital can PRESS THE RED BUTTON NOW!"

I bet they waited ages for that - almost as good as last year when they were showing pics of <Clash> London Burning </Clash> and the crawler invited us to "Press the Red Button for latest Ashes news"...

Oh yes, when people beg to come crewing for me, I make them audition by singing 'Spanish Ladies' while hopping from foot to foot and weighing the anchor.

You are AN Other Forumite, and I claim my free nail-clippers ;-)

As for crewing credentials, I can do a couple of the usual entertaining rope tricks (flick bowline, jug sling, etc), recite Tam o' Shanter (in the vernacular), and my ipod comes with AL Loyd & Ewan's 1960 "While Cruising Around Yarmouth" (Roud 2432) - I generally leave my uke at home 'tho.

BTW, Please send pictures of anchor.

In this context it may be of interest to note that Tim Edey, the guitarist and button accordion player who was named at the Radio Two Folk Awards as the "Musician of the Year" and, in company with Brendan Power, also won "Best Duo", is an experienced sailor. I believe he once lived for a while on a boat in Ramsgate Harbour and still sails on the East Coast occasionally.
