Boats a 12ft clinker (i.e relies on plans taking up for dry feet), and is used on freshwater with the odd trip to the coats very occasionaly. What do people think about using wood preservative.

Is it a good idea
If so where abouts (I will stick to varnish mostly)
Does it have to be a specific type or will B&Qs finest suffice.

Thanks

Cuprinol 5 star clear.
Pour 5 litres into the boat, swill it around with two people gyrating the hull.
Catch the unused stuff on a polythene sheet under the boat and return to the tin!

Wipe off excess fom brightwork, and allow to dry.
Leave for a few weeks before prepping for varish, if that is the plan.

This is the quickest method for getting it into the places where its needed, ie between the lands and under the timbers, where the brush cannot reach.
