Well I got 2 new winch handles, 2 log books (ship and personal) and an Almanac from the children - I think they are great (the children that is) as they know how to keep me happy. Mrs P even came up trumps with nice new embroidered shirts. Here is to a great sailing season. Anybody else well served by Santa this year?

A nice red t shirt with sailing logo the right size from my daughter in Brisbane(28 degrees!);Possum down socks from my daughter in the far north of NZ-yes they do use possum fur mixed with wool and proper knitted socks not those rubbish flocked socks we get in the UK!;a Marks and Sparks heavy lumberjack shirt from another daughter;not forgetting a ticket to see the Waterboys and a remastered Best of Simon and Garfunkel CD.
Well Pleased!
Plus a couple of good reads.

I have a 2012 Reeds Almanac to replace last years 2011 and the previous year a 2010 to replace 2009...... I still manage to look surprised! A great gift and much appreciated.

I bought a sailing mate an anchor shaped (Delta!) bottle opener.....wondering how the Rocna bottle opener compares?

It was the tackiest thing I could find in the sailing shop to add some comedy into Christmas presents!

Hi, First Mate and I-after long consideration and punting around for quotes, looking at existing ones made by various companies-have ordered a cockpit cover for "Jess". The firm we have chosen had the best price but also discovered, unlike the others who quoted, that the existing bimini frame was wrong.Three visits to the boat so far to check the modified frame was bang on.We cant wait to get the finished cover which should open up a lot of possibilities when alongside or on the hook as we have specified lots of clear panels so we can sit out and watch the world go by from the cockpit. Thats our chrismas present-but from ourselves.

What a great idea - since it will be excellent for both of you. Not sure the non-sailing Mrs P would be so keen! (she was however very pleased with gardening tools and new wellies)
