I read the first one. It makes you realise what a doddle it must be having a boat on inland waterways. The article is preparing people for a different kind of experience where safety and hazards need to be taken seriously and you need a chart to know where you are (I'm not sure about "I sometimes plot my position on paper just for fun" even chatplotterers take it more seriously than that).

If you can prepare a saily boat for sea then you know what is what. Obviously the motion of a mobo is quite different on sea compared to lakes/rivers. Nothing there I would argue with.
