Premier Marina\'s view on \'Cost price fuel\'
I know there has been a lot of debate about the price of fuel and the definition of 'cost' as offered by premier, so can anyone tell me if the maths in this statement on their site adds up?
"Premier Marinas is cutting its fuel prices by selling red diesel and unleaded petrol to its customers at cost from 1st January 2006. The discount rates are on offer to anyone staying at least one night at one of Premier’s six marinas across the UK. Premier, which owns six of Britain’s most prestigious marinas, is thought to be the first company to make such an innovative move. Under current market conditions the changes would see Premier customers paying 40p per litre for red diesel, while the pump price for customers not berthing in Premier’s marinas would be 45p per litre.
The move which will mean potential annual savings for sailors ranging from hundreds to thousands of pounds is enthusiastically welcomed by boat owners. Filling up with 250 litres of red diesel as a Premier customer at 40p per litre would cost £100 – a saving of almost £35 on the 54p per litre charged by some rival marinas.
Based on prices as at November 2005.
At today’s market conditions sailors staying at least one night in the company’s marinas would pay 84p per litre for unleaded petrol. The pump price for other customers fuelling up would be 90p per litre. Purchasing 250 litres of unleaded petrol at 84p would cost £210. Saving £71 on the £1.13 per litre currently being charged by some rival marinas.
Tim Mason, managing director of Premier Marinas, commented: “We are committed to the best possible service to our customers. “This is an opportunity for us to ease some of the worries over fuel prices nationwide, giving our customers peace of mind and ensuring a fair deal for our passing trade.
“Whether you stay one night, one month or one year with us then you can buy fuel at cost.
“Our customers can rest assured we will be shopping around each week and ensuring we buy fuel in bulk so we can sell it to them as cheaply as possible.’’ Premier, which dispenses more than three million litres of red diesel at its marinas, will introduce the new policy from 1st January 2006. The company already sells electricity at cost in its Marinas."
