There was a lot of interest with Premiers statement to sell fuel at cost to berth holders and anyone who stays one night or more.

I am keen to learn it is worth calling in for a short stay just for cheap fuel ?

I have looked on this sites fuel cost section but there are not any recent posts regarding Premier fuel costs.

Has any one been out yet from Port Solent or are we to understand it is so nice in there you just venture to the scrubber once a month /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Does anyone know how much 'cost' per liter is ?

Do Premier berth holders buy fuel from their own marina or do you still buy elsewhere ?

Last time I was at Brighton price was 46p/litre if you stayed overnight, as against 51p for day visitors. In fact the 'discount' of 5p is less than the previous discount they used to give for volume (up to 20% for over 1000 litres) so not a particularly good deal. Although the term 'cost price' is often used to describe Premier's deal it is NOT the price they pay their suppliers. The 46p price comprises the buy in price (whatever that is) plus whatever else Premier choose to add on the cover the fuel berth, staff etc. Places like Lymington are still cheaper than premier even though Lymington would presumably say they are still making a profit.

Having said all that if you want to stay overnight it is still worth doing if you take a reasonable quantity. I can save 6p a litre at Brighton compared with my local marina (Dover) and an overnight stay is about £30 so anything over 500 litres makes it worthwhile if en route to somewhere. Obviously not worth a special visit though.

Based in Chi and now generally fill up there. Last fill up was approx 43.0p per litre, although the price is advertised at a higher price - approx 48.0p per litre. Bertholders still get their 10% discount, as you do if you stay over for a night. Likewise, as a Premier bertholder you are still entitled to the discount at any of their marinas.

I would guess it is not worth forking out for a nights stay merely if you want to buy "cheap" fuel. Unless you're going to take on several tons of the stuff.

Found I had to ask for the discount at PS ... mind u - on £12's worth of fuel it doesn't make a huge difference!
Gosport it is always offered - you do have to give your boat details though (not exactly a problem - and it is the principle rather than value (for us!))

Apparently the ex works price from Fawley is around 23p per litre (last week) need to add tax and profit but someone is making money

My most recent fuelling experience at Gosport was that the chap on the fuelling pontoon was charging everyone the higher (public) rate unless they specifically asked for the customer rate. He wanted to see our premier marinas card before he would give the discount.

My most recent fill-ups at Premier marinas were in Swanwick on 25 July at 45.7p, and in Brighton on 29 July at 47.5p. By comparison the fuel pontoon at Weymouth was 51p, and the barge at Dartmouth was 62p (19 July and 23 July respectively). There is also a chap with a bowser who will do quayside fuelling at Weymouth for 42p, but I didn't find out about this until it was too late. Apparently he also covers Dartmouth.

Cheers
Jimmy

Concur your prices as I have done much the same.

One note of interest the 42p chap might be before VAT as I found to my cost...........adds 5% but you must compare apples with apples.

Poole was 48p net last week.

Premier at 45/46 is hard to beat IMHO
