\"Precious Time\" Is Slipping Away

After six brilliant years of pottering about the beaches and coves of Tremadog Bay in my little Shetland 535 "Precious Time" I have just sold her to very, very nice man who is going to have her based on Windermere - he might find that the 55hp Mariner outboard is a bit unnecessary in view of the speed restriction but otherwise I hope he has as much pleasure out of her as I did.

The question now is what to do next. A very wise old friend of mine once suggested that "The pleasure derived from a boat can be measured in inverse proportion to its overall length"

I guess that there are plenty people hereabouts who have traded-up - anyone share the opinion of my mate or is bigger always better?

Re: \"Precious Time\" Is Slipping Away

We have enjoyed all of our boats, but are happy to spend more time on our bigger boat due to the extra space, comfort, and convenience it provides. So the funs the same, but we get more of it.

As with most things in boating though, it all depends on what you want from it.

Commiserations.

I think you ought to spend your money on a knackered but attractive Windy and then spend a fortune getting her into shape. I'm sure there is someone in your neck of the woods who can advise you about this. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers James,

But let's not upset Mr Snelson by reminding him of the size of his, er..."investment" over the past few years - after all, the only chance I have of getting water-borne over the forseeable is as galley-slave aboard Coney Island! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well now raven, fancy seeing you on here...

If you are around this weekend, you can try out out a "bigger" mobo (which I think you are acquainted with quite well anyway).

But I don't think you are being entirely truthful with the learned panel now are you??

Dare I mention rag & stick? Mebbe Sadler or even Westerley?

Yes dear mobo panel, I think raven will end up with the blow-alongs, and lets face it, I'm closer to the action here /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Indeed PT will be missed from the inner harbour of Porthmadog /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: \"Precious Time\" Is Slipping Away

I actually laughed out loud when I read this, and SWMBO asked what the hell was going on at the computer desk /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyway, raven could have bought two of my Windies for the dosh he got for the Shetland /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: \"Precious Time\" Is Slipping Away

...the dosh I got for the Shetland would hardly pay for the fuel to take CI around Bardsey and back!!

It's likely that I will gravitate towards rag and stick.....however, two days without a boat and I'm getting irrational withdrawal symptoms.

Dave - see you down at Madog on Monday for some therapy!
