Now seems a good time to look around for a boat with a bit more space as the trusty old P33 is starting to feel a bit squashed inside and suspect that old lumps like the Powles with big thirsty engines may now be available at interesting prices.
A Powles 36 has appeared locally and now after a good rummage around the interweb at several detailed and interesting websites have decided to go and have a look. This one is a non fly and has a couple of Sabres down below.
Anybody actually had one of these or its bigger/smaller brothers.
All comments welcome.

Like th look and thought about one myself...

What tended to put me off was that most were delivered with a large stateroom and no guest cabin... just a crew one up front.. OK for some, but we wanted at least two cabins...

Now if you could find a 36+2, or a Super 38 (2ft stretched of the same hull, you will have a twin guest cabin..

This one has just a large master bedroom without that daft crew cabin in the bow.As I have no friends no extra berths are really needed. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Slow is just fine with us,99% of time sub 10 knots is the norm in estuary.
Looking for internal space, brick s.....house build, side decks you can actually walk along without putting your life at risk and non electronic engines that can be fixed with a hammer, got to be on shafts.
A sort of cheap Broom but without the silly price tag.Suspect that at this age and price level buyers go for what they can get for their money rather than be over fussy on layout or number of berths etc.Really like the classic clean design which I feel has dated less than some more recent "efforts".
Hull on the 36 was designed by Olesinski.

There's a bigger version 'ere in Brizzle, maybe a 46?

It is well used by the owners , Bristol to Swansea (70nm?) being a popular weekend jaunt.

Lot of boat for the money IMO - like 'em

Went to have a look today, underneath all the stained woodwork and green algae there is probably a nice boat waiting to appear and exactly what we want but......been neglected for 20 years, probably because first owner was unable to maintain the boat and present owner got it for virtually nothing I suspect and has done nothing to rectify the situation.
Will be amazed if he gets anything approaching the asking price.
Back to the brokerage listings...................
