Hello all,

Any recommendations out there regards Power Checks and the best way to do them?

Is it better to carry out checks on the pontoons, (if the boat is light enough) or out of the safety of the Marina and on the water?

Reasons for asking is I noticed a drop of around 100 - 200 revs whilst motoring under full power, roughly 20mins out of the Marina. Immediately reduced throttle and headed for home.

Engine is a Yanmar 1GM10 (no rev counter, temps or pressure gauges), basic service completed late last year.

A checklist would be great but none exist, to my knowledge.

Intention is to create an Engine power checklist, Maybe I could post it on here somewhere. It'll probably come in useful for some of us.

Not sure there is anything about a "power check" that would constitute a list. As suggested a drop of a couple of hundred revs underway is more than likely a bit of debris round the prop. Engine related issues such as fuel problems or air in the system are likely to have other symptoms.

No problems running an engine while moored in a berth, although you are unlikely to achieve full revs because the boat is not moving.
