Its good , this here sailing ,you never get bored, as theres always something to do.Like buy the boat , survey fees, mariner fees, upkeep, etc. Then of course the normal running, like gps, then tiller pilot, depth sounder, radio, etc etc etc then with all this gear you need to upgrade to more battery capacity, then you need a,means of topping up so a wind generator is called for, any way my point is can anyone out there tell when will i be able to stop spending and go sailing ..
PS. no seriuose replies expected

Best not to launch in my opinion. I have known dozens of sailors who keep their boats safely in the yard, and potter around for years spending little except time. It keeps the antifouling in very good condition, and reduces the chances of expensive osmosis treatment being needed.
This doesn't stop you holding sway with tales of derring do in the bar.

Indeed

I have just been quoted £181-50 to replace the perspex and seals in a Lewmar hatch; I suspect that when the hatch (21.25 inches square) was fitted to the new boat in 1989 the whole thing cost less than that!

To help you out in your misery consider what else you would have done with you money if did not spend it on the boat...
Think of all the great other useless stuff you could have bought... A nice new car that depreciates faster then the US dollar...
Or maybe a new TV-set where you find out after 2 years that it doesn't support the new XYZ-standard...

Hey, look at it from the bright side, with the boat-stuff you at least have an excuse to go outside and get some fresh air!
