Came through Fishermans Gat & the Black deep Wednesday & again today en route too & from Ramsgate from Bradwell. I crossed the Sunk sands to Barrow No 3.
I noticed that there were a lot of pot markers in the area of the Blackdeep buoy on the west side of the deep just north of Foulgers gat ( Forget what number that is)
The pots were located in an area radiating about .75 square miles to the north & east of the buoy.
Seems an odd place as they extend in the fairway used by shipping. They were well marked with flags but would still be a hazard if passed at night & when I came past today there was a swell running with 25 Kts wind over tide & they were hard to see.

Crossed the same place 6 times in May & did not see them then. Hope this is not a new thing to look out for

Odd place for lobster pots there I would think. In the run of amongst the strongest tides in the Estuary. I would have thought they would avoid that. By the No 6 I assume? East of the No 10 mind would be close to the wreck of the Mi Amigo which I would have thought was good for them. What do I know? The population of pots around the South Cork for the West Rocks seem to suggest they like uneven bottoms.

It is all down to the fact that my wife understands me !!!!

Just found an old chart at home - it was Buoy No 5 ( which is north of Foulgers & on the west of black deep) so you can see that any pot to the east & north of it is , as I said , sits in the fairway quite a bit

If I read that right, it might be towards the channel edge, not too far from the double wrecks? As I say if I'm reading that right it wouldn't be too close to the fairway which is marked - for the new big stuff - along the line of the Yellow special buoys (the black dotted line on the chart). I've seen quite a few Bradwell Angler Boats anchored over the edge of the Deep/Sands albeit away from the wrecks. Depends how far north and east you saw the stuff. The wrecks would be the lure I guess.

Well they went a fair distance to the east of the buoy & the farthest was in about 23 M of water shortly before high tide. But you are welcome to go & look.
It was only a warning to anyone not expecting them in such a position.
I have certainly seen container ships closer to the buoy than the farthest pot marker. But I did not notice any yellow buoys between Fishermans Gat & the point where i cross the sunk. ( i cross on a bearing of 136 degrees from Barrow No 3) roughly 1.7 miles from buoy no 5.
